Your First Trimester Checklist

Today I'm sharing the ultimate checklist of things you will need to survive the first trimester of your pregnancy. Many of you might look at this article skeptically, thinking it's one of those things you read on the internet. We agree the things you absolutely need during your pregnancy should be simple: soft pillows, cozy PJs, loose-fitting maternity wear that can be worn inside and out, and oils that keep your skin hydrated through the turmoil.

This article is in no way meant to endorse things. The baby and mama wear industry is vast, and all the posts on social media may have you believe you need every little thing the celebs own. I know I went on a shopping spree in my first trimester, and it was a horrible decision. Buying cheap clothes that don't fit well or feel scratchy will only make you miserable in the end. This is why I am here to share my tips on what you need most during the first trimester.

It goes without saying that you may not need all of the things listed down below. These are just things that worked for me. Above all, what you need to survive a pregnancy is love, compassion, confidence, strength, humility, and a ton of patience.

The 1st Trimester Checklist

1. Prenatal Vitamins And Everything Else the Doctor Recommended

Pregnancy Vitamins

Many new things will be happening to you around this time, the first doctor visit, the first ultrasound, and your first prescriptions. Your doctor will give you a list of supplements and vitamins to suit your needs. Remember to always keep them at hand and be regular with them. The first trimester is usually very tiring for most because your body is still getting used to the new hormones. Prenatal vitamins will keep you upbeat.

2. Cozy PJs

Who doesn't love a pair of super comfortable maternity pyjama sets? Your skin might feel extra sensitive during this time which is why having a couple of your favorite pajamas is always a great idea. They are good lounging or sleeping in and feel like a second skin.







3. Pants

Maternity pants are a must for every working mother. But remember, comfort is critical when it comes to pants during pregnancy. Even if you are not showing yet, it's best to avoid pants that dig in your belly. Instead, go for pants that either sit under or over the bump.



4. Leggings or Workout Gear

Maternity Leggings

Every pregnant woman needs a fantastic pair of maternity leggings. Maternity leggings mold to your body and accommodate your growing bump. Whether you prefer the underbelly or over belly variants, you must have at least one pair that you feel absolutely fabulous in. Leggings are also a brilliant option if you want to take up prenatal yoga classes or any other workout regimen.



5. Topwear

I don't know about you, but I practically lived in maternity kaftan throughout all of my pregnancy. They are so airy and voluminous you don't feel you are wearing anything at all. If kaftans are not your thing, buy a few pregnancy t-shirts from the maternity section. I recommend women always buy from the maternity section when they are pregnant instead of going a size up to avoid looking like a hobo. Pregnant women need to look and feel good about themselves. Am I right?

6. Intimates

Your body undergoes lots of physical changes during pregnancy, like growing belly, breasts, and hips. To stay comfortable through the pregnancy phase, you need to switch to maternity lingerie, which provides better support and is also made of stretchy and breathable fabrics.

7. Treats and Healthy Food

I assure you, you would be snacking a lot even if you have morning sickness. Pregnancy eating is endless and mindless sometimes. Although I totally agree treats should are more than welcome, having a few healthy snack ideas at hand is always a good idea. You could try fresh fruits, smoothies, chocolates, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, roasted fish, etc. Be sure to check with your doctor before trying anything new.

8. Pregnancy Journal and Apps

I found that maintaining a pregnancy journal was therapeutic for me. Writing down little changes you see and feel in your body feels good. You could also do it on an app. Most pregnancy apps also have little tidbits about pregnancy progression, baby info, and many other fun things. Looking back, I think the journal was an excellent idea.

If you encounter a few dull moments early on, the best suggestion I can give you is to get that Netflix subscription as soon as you can. Pregnancy puts a lot of stress on your mind and body. Sometimes we all just need to Netflix and chill.
